Treatment Plan

Having looked at the characteristics and possibly having identified with some of or all of them, the question is what to do now? Maybe you'd like to see what Spirit can offer you in the way of treatment, help and support.


This is a sample treatment plan which gives an idea of some of the components to expect in your time at Spirit. All treatment plans are tailored to the individual. The timescale of treatment typically takes 26 weeks for primary and 26 weeks for secondary treatment. Obviously this varies depending on client attendance.

Assessment by Focal Counsellor: Explore needs and suitability.

Assessment by Group Members: Is Group Therapy for you?

Join Primary Group: Given 1st step preparation.

Life Story: Personal History.

Peer Evaluation: Group members give feedback and suggest areas to work on and develop.

Life Story Assignment: Specific areas seen as significant blocks to recovery.

Steps 2 and 3: On completion to join Secondary group, unless decided otherwise by group collectively, client or counsellor.

Join Secondary group: More focus on day to day living.

Steps 4 through 12: dealt with in Secondary Group




As part of the programme:


Weekly 1-2-1 counselling. More if needs of client are greater.

2 Weekly primary groups (1 optional)

1 Secondary Group (usually after 4th Step)

Telephone Access to Counsellor and group members

Access to Support Group for Partners

Family Conferences. As and when needed.
